The adage for writers goes, “if you aren’t writing, you should be reading…”

Well, considering that my Vagabonding Life blog hasn’t been updated since May (some assume I’m still surviving in a snowy Himalayan cave somewhere), I should have been doing lots of reading.

I have. And when this hiatus is over, I’ll gladly open a jugular onto the keyboard. There is much to tell.

So what’s on my shelf? I love returning to those dusty old friends I miss so much while traveling the world. My library is one of the few material possessions to which I feel allegiance. After all, according to the Roman philosopher Cicero, all you really need is a garden and a library.

Many of these books changed my life in one way or another, and some I reread annually; once just isn’t enough.

Without further ado…here is a list of my all-time favorites.

Yes…I get about 12 cents per book from Amazon if you use these links.

Update: Apologies…Amazon has retired the Amazon store feature, so I’ll need to link each book separately. There were many.

This is a living list — I’ll continue to update it as I come across new, inspiring books.
